Latif Kapadia Memorial Welfare Trust

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Latif Kapadia Memorial Welfare Trust is a nonprofit foundation based in Karachi, Pakistan.[1] It was established in 2007 in memory of the late actor and philanthropist Latif Kapadia.[2]

History

[edit]

The foundation was founded in 2007 by the family of Latif Kapadia to commemorate his contributions to the entertainment industry and social welfare.[3] The organization's mission is to make essential healthcare accessible for low-income communities by offering medical consultations, diagnostic services, and affordable medications.[4]

The current chairman of LKMWT is Ahmed Kapadia, also a trustee of the foundation and son of Latif Kapadia.[3] Sabir Sami, CEO of KFC, is also a trustee and the vice chairman of the nonprofit organization.[5]

The organization collaborates with various groups for support, including a partnership with Aaj Ka Random and New Louvre Art Gallery for fundraising in November 2018,[6][7] and integration of Paymob's digital payment gateway to facilitate donations.[8]

Healthcare services and initiatives

[edit]

LKMWT operates Medi-Health Clinics in underprivileged areas across Karachi, providing primary care, diagnostics, and medication at a minimal cost.[9] These clinics collectively serve a large number of patients each year.[3][10]

In partnership with The Hunar Foundation (THF), LKMWT also organizes community health programs to raise awareness about health risks associated with the use of tobacco-related products like gutka and chalia.[11]

Awards

[edit]

In 2024, LKMWT received the Black Dragon Award for Best Small Budget Campaign at the Dragons of Pakistan Awards.[12][13]
