Bug: Empty title field, defaults to "anonymous" in some viewers
Re: Thread at Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)/Archive_103#Download as PDF. Summary: In some viewers, such as Evince and Okular, the empty title field displays as "anonymous" in the window titlebar. See screenshot of the problem in both.
Suggested fix: Use the page title as the pdf 'title' tag.
Thanks. —Quiddity (talk) 20:14, 28 September 2012 (UTC) [Note, identical post made at meta:Book tool/Feedback]
- Which exact other viewers are affected? Okular and Evince both use exactly the same backend (poppler) to access PDF information so I'd expect a bug in poppler (which has its bugtracker at https://bugs.freedesktop.org) if there are no indicators that this is also broken with other PDF readers. Nothing that we could fix on MediaWiki servers. --Malyacko (talk) 12:12, 4 January 2013 (UTC)
- (I've updated the 1st link, to the now-archived thread)
- The other user only mentioned Evince, so possibly it is just those viewers/poppler. I'm unable to test popular software on other platforms. Thanks for the pointers/info, though. –Quiddity (talk) 08:13, 17 April 2013 (UTC)
Bug - Problem generating PDF docs
I'm trying to generate a PDF document for this article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neolithic but the rendition is always defective (see attachment). Haven't had any problems doing that with other articles before and after this one. Any idea what the problem / solution could be??? Thanks Correoesmeralda (talk) 03:15, 3 April 2013 (UTC)
Don't work because the table is too large... same error here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_State_Route_1 and here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_State_Route_1 and here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interstate_580_(California) or here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_archaeological_periods_(North_America) or here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Union_Station_(Los_Angeles). I have a trick to fix this "<div class="noprint">" to hide the table on pdf, but the architects of wikipedia prefer the article with errors.. the problem is because the table is very large. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sgccgs (talk • contribs) 00:54, 17 April 2013 (UTC)
- Yeah, don't do that. I'm working on fixing the root of the problem and these things would make that work harder. Since this debugging may take a reasonably longer period of time, I am researching an interim "band-aid". Thank you. Technical 13 (talk) 18:21, 17 April 2013 (UTC)
WTF?
Five times in the space of a week? Seems like every time my screensaver goes on, this thing loses all the pages, & I have to delete, & add, every single page all over again. I am getting reallly sick of this. TREKphiler any time you're ready, Uhura 04:24, 24 April 2013 (UTC)
