The Tea Room received it's name to honor the boyhood home of George N. Wicox.
Waioli Mission is in Hanalei, Kauai where George grew up.
His Father was the teacher at the Mission school.
George later became owner of Grove Farm Plantation on Kauai.
He gave $32,000.00 dollars in 1922 to build the Tea Room for the young women of Salvation Army to gain skills.
