It has one of the oldest irrigation systems of the world. The building of the water tank, and transport of the water under gravity to various locations below the rock, creating fountains etc. is a remarkable creation.
There are very ancient irrigation systems in Sri Lanka where you can see that canals had been build with very small gradient "Yodha Ela"(Giant Canal).
These are all remarkable creations of old Sri Lankans
