There are some non-native turtles found in California because of pet releases. Adult turtles survive very well and live for decades. Also, the OP may be seeing red eared sliders (also from pet releases and often confused). Or even just western pond turtles (native to the region).76.79.11.122 (talk) 00:43, 6 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
