I dispute your claim that 8 8000ers are visible in this image. Dhaulagiri and Annapurna and Manaslu are not single peaks, but complexes of peaks. I have not checked carefully, but it seems to me that what you have called "Dhaulagiri" and "Annapurna" are Nadi Chuli and Himal Chuli, south of Manaslu. I am going to de-link this image until you correct it or provide more evidence that your claim is correct. Viewfinder (talk) 10:36, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
- You are probably right. I'm glad somebody finally checked if the details were correct. I must admit I was being a bit too quick when I annoted the picture. Thought Annapurna must have been the broad massif in the middle. But I just checked again with google earth. From the given perspective you'd be seing the thinner profile of Annapurna(-Himal). The positioning of Dhaulagiri distinguishably next to Annapurna seems also incorrect, Dhaulagiri should be more or less behind Annapurna. (But it's hard to tell anyway because you can only guess the position of the plane when the picture was taken...). I'm going to correct the image (or at least remove the misinformation) Thanks alot.--Rupert Pupkin (talk) 10:57, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
- I haven't got the powerpoint-presentation (I think i made it with powerpoint [I definitely used ppt for other annotated images]) on my computer anymore. So I can't just remove the wrong names but I'll have to create a whole new picture. That will take a moment, I don't know If I'll find the time today, maybe tomorrow...--Rupert Pupkin (talk) 12:20, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
Thnks for your helpful response, when you have fixed the image you are welcome to re-link it to articles. It's a great image, sorry about putting you to the bother of correcting it, but it should not be making incorrect claims. Viewfinder (talk) 16:45, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
- I changed the image and uploaded a new version (using the existing file-name because it is used in other wikis, too). BTW: I wasn't aware that the image had already been removed when I uploaded it again. And I hadn't seen this talk page until yesterday. (And I haven't even realized that the first entry was from may 11 - and not january 11, yesterday - until just now...)--Rupert Pupkin (talk) 13:31, 12 January 2009 (UTC)
