There are many reasons why this image comes under 'Fair Use' and cannot be served by text alone. Firstly, a mere text will not give an accurate depiction of David Jason. This is because everyone perceives what is being desribed to them differently (and thus inaccurately - to a certain degree). Secondly, extensive searches of public domain directories and copyright-free image websites (sources) have been made to find copyright-free (free-alternative) images of David Jason, but none have been found. There are also no copyright-free images (or any images at all) of David Jason on Wikipedia. The copyright has also been attributed to its rightful owner (the 'BBC'). The image is being used for educational and illustrative purposes on Wikipedia and to improve the quality of the Wikipedia article on David Jason itself (and to also educate Wikipedia readers). The image is not being used for any financial (or promotional) gain whatsoever. The image has also been reduced in size to prevent any piracy, exploitation or illegal use of the image. It is with this conclusion that its felt that there are no free alternative pictures of David Jason available for use on Wikipedia and that this image comes under 'Fair Use' by law.
