View looking south over Wushe Reservoir in Nantou County, Taiwan. Suspended sediment from Wushe River emptying into the reservoir. Wanda Dam can be seen in the distance in the centre of the picture. Wushe Reservoir is a reservoir in Nantou County formed at the Wushe River by the dam of the Wanda Power Plant. It lies within the Renai Township and named after the river. it was built in 1960 by a design from the United States Bureau of Reclamation. Because the source of the Wushe River is rainwater and snow meltwater from the mountain area of Rengao and Hehuashan, the river carries huge amounts of sediment, with an average annual suspended sediment load of over 1.77 million cubic meters. Over time, the capacity of the dam was almost entirely replaced by sediment. Live storage capacity of Wushe Reservoir had declined more than 11.12 percent to 47.26 million cubic meters against its original capacity of 150 million cubic meters because of sedimentation over the past 58 yearsr, from 1957 to 2015. 中文（臺灣）： 位於臺灣南投縣的霧社水庫往南俯瞰所見到景色。霧社溪挾帶沉積物流入水庫。在照片中間處的遠方可見到萬大壩。 霧社水庫是位於南投縣的萬大電廠在霧社溪所形成的一座水庫。它座落於仁愛鄉境內，並以霧社溪命名。建於1960年，是由美國墾務局所設計。因為霧社溪的水源來自能高與合歡山區的雨水與融雪，使得溪水平均每年挾帶大量沉積物超過177萬立方公尺。在長久日積月累之下，大壩被沉積物所取代，幾乎喪失原有的功能。霧社水庫原本的有效容量是15,000萬立方公尺，自1957年至2015年止，在這在過去58年以來就下降超過11.12%來到了4,726萬立方公尺。 |
