Wushe Reservoir is a reservoir in Nantou County formed at the Wushe River by the dam of the Wanda Power Plant. It lies within the Renai Township and named after the river. it was built in 1960 by a design from the United States Bureau of Reclamation. Because the source of the Wushe River is rainwater and snow meltwater from the mountain area of Rengao and Hehuashan, the river carries huge amounts of sediment, with an average annual suspended sediment load of over 1.77 million cubic meters. Over time, the capacity of the dam was almost entirely replaced by sediment. Live storage capacity of Wushe Reservoir had declined more than 11.12 percent to 47.26 million cubic meters against its original capacity of 150 million cubic meters because of sedimentation over the past 58 yearsr, from 1957 to 2015.
