English: A Persian style Deccani painting of Buddha as Vishnu avatar.

"Title (series): Persian Portraits, Etc; Viṣhṇu as Buddha making gesture of dharmacakrapravartana flanked by two disciples; single-page painting mounted on an album folio. Crowned and bejeweled Buddha sits crosslegged on an open flower with two hands joined in prayer and the other two holding pink flowers aloft. Identically dressed figures stand on either side, praying to Buddha. Flat green ground with blue and white sky along top and hazy blue along bottom with flowering plants. Outlined in black and framed by a plain beige border; page cut before mounted into album. Album contains 67 Deccani paintings, mostly depictions of named individuals, along with some Hindu gods and goddesses. Album bound in blue-green leather and stamped with Sloane's gilded armorial on front and back cover."
