English: An example of Chardonnay wines being sur lie aged in barrel with one of the barrel heads removed on each barrel to show what the wine looks like. The example on the right had just been stirred (batonnage) with the lees and particulate suspended throughout the wine. The example on the left has not been stirred in almost a week with the lees all settled to the bottom. |
