Summary

Description
English: Presentation of the sculpture dedicated to Taras Shevchenko "Shevchenko's Thoughts" to the Ukrainian community in Sydney by the sculptor Anatoliy Valiev, as a gift from the Kyiv City State Administration. This presentation was after the Shevchenko concert held in the Ukrainian Youth Centre in Lidcombe in March 2000. From left to right: Volodymyr Yalovyi (Deputy Lord Mayor of the City of Kyiv), Peter Kravchenko (intermediary and Secretary of the Ukrainian Artists Association of Australia) and Anatoly Valiev (author of the sculpture, from Ukraine). Due to indecision by the leaders of the Ukrainian Australian community, the sculpture was not installed until 2005, in Canberra.
