English: One of two temples on the acropolis, one for Baal, one for Dagon (aka Dagan) 40 meters apart, with similar plans (though the latter has thicker walls). A courtyard with a central altar had a sanctuary to the north with very thick walls inside which three staircases led to the top of a tower above the cella, on the top of which sacrifices could be performed. Baal was the patron deity of the city. Dagon was a god of fertility.
