English: Photo #: NH 102342; Underwriter (American Tug, 1881); Photographed prior to World War I, probably off New Orleans, Louisiana. Built in 1881 and rebuilt in 1903, this tug was acquired by the Navy on 1 July 1918 and commissioned on 9 August of that year as USS Underwriter (ID # 1390). Later re-designated YT-44, she was renamed Adirondack on 15 October 1920 and sold on 6 June 1922. The original print is in National Archives' Record Group 19-LCM.
