Summary

Description The U.S. Navy aircraft carriers USS Hornet (CV-12) (left) and USS Independence (CVL-22) as seen from the flight deck of the carrier USS Wasp (CV-18) in January 1945. Hornet wears camouflage measure 33 design 3A, Independence measure 33 design 8A. Task Force 38 was just returning to Ulithi after attacking Japanese bases in the South China Sea, on Formosa and on Okinawa since 30 December 1944.
