English: Senju Kannon, dated 1251-1256, from the Rengeo-in, Kyoto. Now kept in the Tokyo National Museum.
This sculpture comes from the Hondo of Rengeo-in. It is from the hand of Tankei (1173-1256). Senju = "Thousand-arms," signifying the power of this Kannon to save all sentient beings. |
