Summary

Description
English: :A pre-9th century Shiva temple associated with the Nayanars and mentioned in the Tevaram.
The temple was expanded over the centuries and has extensive inscriptions on outer and inner walls.
Most iconography is Shaivism related, yet like other Shiva temples, significant Vaishnava and Shakti iconography is also reverentially displayed within the temple.
One of over 250 Saiva Siddhanta Agamic temples in Tamil Nadu.
It is also spelled Thiruthalinathar Koil or Tiruthali Nathar temple in Tiruppathur.
