English: Map of Tabaci mahala, Bucharest, in the 17th century (shaded area); this is the area currently known as the Old Town, with portions of Cișmigiu. At the time, it was populated by, and named after, a tanner's guild (tabaci), who used the Dâmbovița for waste management. Map and information based on Paul I.
