Summary

Description Church of St John the Divine, Calder Grove, Wakefield, West Yorkshire, England. Designed in 1892 by William Swinden Barber. Showing old postcard of the church, dated before 1920. Note how vegetation obscures view of church; the same conditions applied in April 2014. The postcard shows gas-lighting, which was removed in the 1920s.
Date Date of postcard: before 1920. Photographed by uploader 17 April 2014.
Source My own photograph of an old postcard from the church archives.
Author Postcard books, archives and records have been thoroughly examined, and no record of the photographer has been found. There is an embossed address at the bottom of the card, saying "Wood Street, Wakefield", but this has not assisted the enquiry. The back of the postcard was blank.
