Summary

Description
English: Altar of St. Leonard's Catholic Church in Madison, Nebraska. The church was designed in Romanesque Revival style by architect Jacob M. Nachtigall, and built in 1913. With its rectory and a garage, it is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The hand-carved wooden altar is over twenty feet tall. The figures in bishop's robes and miters in the niches on either side of the central Crucifixion scene are Saint Boniface on the left (note the axe in the stump at his feet) and Saint Patrick on the right (holding a shamrock in his right hand).
