Summary

Description
English: Ongoing conflict and insecurity in South Sudan has forced an estimated 3.5 million South Sudanese to be displaced. Close to 1.9 million are internally displaced, and there are over 1.6 million refugees and asylum-seekers in neighboring countries. Displacement has significantly increased in recent months—over half a million refugees have fled the country since July 1, 2016. Neighboring countries and humanitarian organizations are under increasing pressure to meed food, health and nutrition, protection and shelter needs as funding levels remain low and South Sudanese continue to leave. High levels of displacement to Uganda and Sudan in early 2017 put these countries at an elevated risk of having needs exceed the planned 2017 funding. The 2016 South Sudan Regional Refugee Response Plan (RRP) was only 45% funded, and as of February 10th the 2017 plan only 5% funded.
