Source |
Soundstream, Inc. Uploader is the author of "Soundstream Audio Systems Technical Manual, Serial #'s 5-13" and had thought to include photographs of the Digital Tape Recorder in the Technical Manual. In the end, photographs were not included in the Technical Manual. The photograph depicted by this scan is in Uploader's Technical Manual notes. |

Purpose of use |
The Soundstream Digital Tape Recorder is an historically significant development in the transition from a purely analog world into the digital world of the 21st Century. This image serves to give readers a visual representation of the Digital Tape Recorder's primary electronics cabinet. |
Replaceable? |
Unlikely and certainly not of a Digital Tape Recorder in pristine condition. As of 2009, Soundstream Digital Tape Recorders are all at minimum 27 years old (all were built before 1982 when Uploader joined the Company). Uploader suspects that should any still exist, they lie buried and forgotten in storage units someplace. Soundstream became owned by Digital Recording Corporation which became owned by Optical Recording Corporation (Toronto, Canada) which was owned by Optical Recording Laboratories (Toronto, Canada). None of these entities seem to exist any longer. |
