SIMLA 219 Hill (7140 ft.) with a grand viewdown to Sabathu and up to Kasauli;beyond it (3 m.) is Jutogli, andnorth of it is Summer Hill. Thereare many beautiful walks roundJakko and some of the other hills :from the top of Jakko, famous forits fakir and the monkeys whichhaunt the temple, there are fine viewsof Chor mountain (10,000 ft.) to theS.E., and of the snows when theweather is clear. One of the prettiestwalks leaves the Mall near the S.approach to the U.S. Club (whichstands over the Combermere ravinerunning down the W. face of Jakkoto the S. side of the Ridge), andwinds down the lower slopes of theChhota Simla spur as far as BishopCottons school. Snowdon, theresidence of the Commander-in-Chief,the Walker Hospital founded by SirJames Walker, CLE., and theMayo Orphanage are on the Mallon the N. side of Jakko, and theConvent schools are situated at theS.W. corner.
