Summary

Description
English: Sichuan brocade with a drinking scene involving two Byzantines or Central Asians within a pearl roundel, discovered in 1973 from Tomb 507 at Astana Cemetery in Turpan, Chinese Turkestan. This fragment is currently preserved in Nantong Textile Museum. The pearl roundel motif was popular in Sogdian art which spread to both the East (e.g., Sichuan brocade) and the West (e.g., a silk fragment from Spain).
