Description
English: Overview of Nigger Spring, one of several salt springs comprising the Illinois Salines. Located off Salt Well Road west of Shawneetown in Equality Township, Gallatin County, Illinois, United States, the Illinois Salines were the only location where slavery was legal in pre-Civil War Illinois. Along with other springs in the Salines, this site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
