The Minigun can fire 30 per second and up to 3000 rounds per minute. It fires 7.62mm rounds and is used as a close support weapon to neutralise a target.
The gun crew conducted live firing drills while in transit to the Gulf of Aden. HMS Monmouth is starting a 6 month operational tour to the Middle East to conduct Counter Piracy and Maritime Security Operations.
