Summary

Description
English: Aberthaw Quarry and cement works, Aberthaw: The picture shows plant used to stock and process raw material(limestone) taken from the quarry before moving it to the works for final processing into cement.
This subject's main title should be Aberthaw Quarry and cement works and has previously been corrected as such in the photo subtitle. Rhoose quarry was the source of blue lias limestone excavated for the former sister company's Rhoose cement works just over two miles to the east of East Aberthaw. Rhoose cement works was closed in 1987, demolished along with the former Asbestos factory and the land remodelled. The associated Rhoose quarry now known as Rhoose Point, hosts many houses built in the quarry itself with some ponds remaining for wildlife. The former Rhoose main cement works site is also occupied by new houses south of the Vale of Glamorgan railway line.
