Summary

Description
English: Arms of Raleigh family of Fardell in the parish of Cornwood, Devon and of Nettlecombe Raleigh in Somerset: Gules, five fusils conjoined in bend argent (Source: Pole, Sir William (d.1635), Collections Towards a Description of the County of Devon, Sir John-William de la Pole (ed.), London, 1791, p.499). These arms appear on various contemporary portraits of Sir Walter Raleigh (d.1618), the famous adventurer, and in a modern depiction in East Budleigh Church, Devon, in which parish he was born.
