Summary

Description
English: The coat of arms of the town of Abrud, according to annex no. 1.1, consists of a triangular shield with rounded edges. In the field of the shield, on a blue background, there is a fantastic golden animal called a griffin, with a bird's head, red tongue and spread wings, holding two silver hammers in its claws. The shield is surmounted by a silver mural crown with 3 crenellated towers. The meanings of the added elements: The elements of the coat of arms are taken from the old coat of arms of the town, which was known since ancient times as an important gold mining basin. The mural crown with 3 crenellated towers signifies the fact that the locality has the status of a town.
