English: This animation shows an example of an astronomical data cube. The animation shows the galaxy NGC 7421, captured by the Integral field spectrograph MUSE on ESO's Very Large Telescope. The animation shows in the upper part the galaxy and in the lower part the spectrum of a small region of the entire data cube, shown as a green circle. As the gray line is manually shifted towards the redder part, the image in the top part shows the star forming regions. First the left part of the star-forming regions is visible and then the right part is visible. This is due to the blueshift and redshift, caused by the rotation of the galaxy. This animation makes use of data from the ESO proposal id 096.B-0309 and uses the software QFitsView.
