Description Part of the south wall of the ruined church of St Mary at Reculver, which was mostly demolished in the early 19th century. This view is facing slightly south of east. The masonry includes re-used Roman materials, or spolia, such as the red tiles visible here, taken from the remains of the Roman fort on the site of which the church was first built in the 7th century.
