Description
English: German Ambassador to Austria Franz von Papen on his way to Berchtesgaden. Picture taken on February 21st 1938 at the Central Railway Station in Vienna. Left to right: Wilhelm Freiherr von Ketteler (Attaché at the German Embassy in Vienna and Papen's Chief of Staff), von Papen and Hans Graf von Kageneck (Attaché at the German Embassy in Vienna). Ketteler was murdered three weeks later in Vienna by agents of SD-Chief Reinhard Heydrich on the occasion of the German annexation of Austria.
