Description
English: The wall painting in the chamber of the Swiss National Council. It is 5 metres high and 12 metres wide, entitled "The cradle of the confederation" ("Le berceau de la confédération"/"Die Wiege der Eidgenossenschaft") and was painted by Charles Giron, 1901. It shows an idealized panorama of Lake Lucerne, the canton of Schwyz, and the Rütli meadows (lower left). The naked female figure in the clouds above the Rütli (left end of the clouds) symbolizes peace.[1]
