Additional information:
The address of this house in 1915 was 463 Park Avenue. Orson Welles was born here May 6, 1915, at 7 a.m. [1] Richard H. Welles and Beatrice Ives Welles and their first son, Dickie, had lived there since 1913, initially renting the lower rooms to traveling salesmen.[2]
Biographer Charles Higham wrote, "The house, though nice enough and only a stone's throw from Rudolphsheim [the Gottfredsen mansion built by Richard Welles's mother, still standing at 711 61st Street], was certainly not of the standard of the mansions occupied by Richard's partner's, Frost and Yule."[2]
The present address is 6114–6116 Seventh Avenue.[3]
