English: Express locomotive backing out of Old Oak Common Depot to take up a train at Paddington. View eastward from the footbridge at Old Oak Common East Junction: ex-GWR main lines from Paddington. The West London Line, coming up from Kensington Olympia, Clapham Junction etc. to Willesden Junction etc. (left), is seen crossing above at Mitre Bridge Junction. The locomotive is Hawksworth 'Modified Hall' 4-6-0 No. 6990 'Witherslack Hall' (built 4/48, withdrawn 12/65 - and preserved on the heritage Great Central Railway). (See other scenes at this spot: a train-watcher's paradise, where you could also immerse yourself in the smoke!). |
