Summary

Description
English: This is a rough schematic of signal transmission over a balanced line. The sender drives one conductor with signal and leaves the other connected to ground through an impedance equal to that of the driving amplifier. A differential amplifier at the receiving end produces the difference between the two conductors.

During transmission there is noise on the line, but do to the impedance balanced, the noise is induced equally in both conductors and the differential amplifier rejects it entirely while keeping the signal intact.

Norsk bokmål: Dette er et forenklet skjema som viser hvordan et signal kan overføres fra sender til mottaker over en balansert linje. Senderen driver en av lederne med signal, mens den andre lederen er koblet til jord via en impedans tilsvarende utgangsimpedansen til den drivende forsterkeren. En differensialforsterker hos mottakeren produserer differansen mellom de to lederne.

Under overføringen oppstår det støy på linjen, men på grunn av den impedansbalansen, induseres støyen likt i begge ledere og differensialforsterkeren kan fullstendig kansellere den uten å påvirke det ønskede signalet.
