Between April 1960 and March 1963, 25 of the London Midland Region fleet, Nos. D210 – D225 and D226 – D235 were all named after ocean liners belonging to Cunard, Elder Dempster Lines and Canadian Pacific all associated with the port of Liverpool.
The English Electric type 4s emerged from Vulcan Foundry in all-over British Rail standard green livery with a light grey roof and a thin grey band just below the bodyside roof line plus red buffer beams.
