This is the only surviving example of one of the greatest fighter types of World War One.
Developed from the almost identical Nieuport 17, the Nieuport 23 had improved interrupter gear, the only visible clue to this being the offset Vickers gun.
Acquired in the 1920’s but only recently restored, the Nieuport is on display at what is known as the Brussels Air Museum, although it is actually the Air and Space Section of the Royal Museum of the Armed Forces and Military History.
