This flag is fictitious, proposed, or locally used unofficially. It has not been adopted in an official capacity, and although it may be named as if it was an official flag of a geographical or other entity and have some visual elements that are similar to official logos or flags of that entity, it does not have any official recognition. A flag of this type should not be added to any articles or pages unless it is officially proposed by a government agency, covered by the media, or sees notable local use.

Summary

Description
English: New Persia Flag: This proposed flag was designed as an alternative to both the official Iranian flag, which is closely tied to the ruling theocratic political structure, and the previous official Iranian flag, which is still associated with the monarchical rule of Rezā Shāh Pahlavi. The New Persia Flag displays the traditional Pan-Iranian colors, using a green and red horizontal bicolor emblazoned with the Farsi word azadi, which means "freedom" and "liberty", shown prominently in white, straddling both halves. The word is featured again 16 times in smaller red calligraphy along the lower border of the upper half of green, for a total of 17 appearances. The number 17 is significant in Persian history from Zoroastrian tradition to the science of Persian polymath chemist Abu Musa Jābir ibn Hayyān al azdi (known also as Geber). The intended use is to show support for freedom and liberty in Iran rather than support for a particular party or candidate. The designer's identity is not disclosed to avoid possible repercussions from the current Iranian government.
