Summary

Description
English: Chapter House of the Abbey of New Clairvaux, Vina, Northern California. The Chapter House was reconstructed with stones that were brought to California by William Randolph Hearst. Hearst had a medieval building in Ovila, Spain, taken down and had the stones shipped to the United States in order to build a castle. After he ran out of money during the Great Depression, the stones ended up in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco. In 1994, the monks started the restoration project "Sacred Stones". They brought the limestone blocks to Vina, a small community northwest of Chico, California. In December of 2011, the final stone was set into the ceiling.
