Summary

Description
English: Picture of the Neville Township Memorial located in Memorial Park on Grand Avenue in Neville Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, on September 25, 2010.

The memorial, with an Art Deco-styled stone eagle, commemorates those who fought and/or died for the United States during times of war.

A historical marker near the memorial says the following: "Dravo Corporation Shipyard - During World War II, Dravo's shipyard here was a leader in the manufacture of Landing Ship Tanks (LSTs) for the U.S. Navy. Dravo's over 16,000 workers produced a total of 145 LSTs. This and four other inland yards, all using techniques pioneered by Dravo, contributed two-thirds of the Navy's fleet of over 1,000 LSTs. These amphibious craft proved vital to the success of the Allied landings on enemy shores, 1943-45. Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission 1995".

To the left of the historical marker, an old cannon from the 1700s sits on the ground. On it, there's a plaque that says the following: "Cannon of American Man-of-War - Used in Penobscot Expedition - Commodore Dudley Saltonstall, Commanding - August 14, 1779 - Recovered from river bottom during excavations for Bangor-Brewer, Maine bridge substructure September, 1953 by Dravo Corporation, Pittsburgh".
