Summary

Description Aerial view of the U.S. Naval Air Station Quonset Point, Rhode Island (USA). There are three Essex-class aircraft carriers visible, two with an angled deck in the lower center of the picture (lower carrier is USS Essex (CV-9) and the one above it (dark deck) is the USS Antietam and a straight deck carrier in the upper right part. The straight deck carrier could be USS Lake Champlain (CVS-39) which was decommissioned as the last U.S. Navy straight deck carrier in 1966. It was homeported in Quonset Point. This would date the picture to the mid-1960s.
