Auf einem anderen Kriegszug wollte Münchhausen über einen Sumpf reiten, geriet aber so tief hinein, dass er hätte umkommen müssen. Durch die Stärke seines eigenen Armes zog er sich am Haarzopf und das Tier, eingeklemmt zwischen die Knie, aus dem Morast heraus.
