English: Home of Melvin Mills around the turn of the 20th Century. Mills was a lawyer, New Mexico legislator, and District Attorney who became instrumental in arranging for the Santa Fe Railroad to pass through Springer. This 20-room, three-story mansion features the tallest staircase in New Mexico, and two branches of the Santa Fe Trail are visible from its balconies. The building is sadly in disrepair, and in great need of preservation/restoration.
