Summary

Description A U.S. Coast Guard Martin 4-0-4 in 1958. Two aircraft were acquired in 1952 and designated RM-1 (USCG serials 1282/1283). They were later upgraded to RM-1Z VIP transports (re-designated VC-3A in 1962). Both were stationed at the Washington National Airport and used by the Commandant of the USCG and the Secretary of Treasury/Transportation. Both were turned over to the U.S. Navy in 1969 (BuNos 158202/158203) and used until 1971. Both were sold to civil operators. 1282 crashed in Venezela in 1978, 1283 was written off in 1974.
