English: Pest doctor protective gear (replica, original early XVIIth century) as displayed in the Hospital 'Notre Dame a la Rose' (Lessines, Belgium). The mask 'nose' was filled with herbs and vinegar to hide bad cadaver smell and/or avoid contamination. The stick was used to lift sick people clothings and check their body parts for symptomns, mainly ulcers in the lower body parts.
