English: Longford Hall stable block This is the imposing but sadly currently disused stable block and coach house. The clock was designed and built by John Whitehurst the eminent scientist, geologist and inventor of clocks and instruments who lived nearby in Derby from 1736-1780. He was a founder member of the Lunar Society in Birmingham and an early member of the Derby Philosophical Society.
