English: Remnant of original statue, Les Pleureuses by Youssef Hoyek, placed on Martyr's Square in Beirut in 1930. However, due to popular opposition to the statue deemed too "feminine," it was attacked and eventually replaced in 1953. The remnant was gifted to the Sursock Museum where it is now on display in the courtyard in front of the museum.
