Description
English: This miniature shows St. Francis and others treating victims of leprosy. Some writers erroneously identify these patients as suffering from smallpox, given the symptoms illustrated, and the image is also mistakenly used to illustrate the Black Death. It comes from a manuscript of La Franceschina, (c.1474), a chronicle of the Order by Franciscan Jacopo Oddi (d. 1488) of Perugia, housed in the Biblioteca Augusta, Perugia, IT. Disease shown is leprosy per the 2016 article in Lancet at, doi:10.1016/S1473-3099(16)30119-0
