English: One of my favorite things to photograph is a crowd. It always presents a diverse, ever changing subject, and constantly surprises me with its ability to portray facets of the human experience through moments of silence found the tumult of a multitude. Lucky for me then that I live in Vancouver, where annual street events give me the chance to practice. I feel the reason I love Vancouver the most is exemplified best through the nature of these events. They are multi-ethnic, multicultural, and pervaded by a sense of community and collective pride in our city, even if its as simple as "its cool our city does this." And perhaps best of all these events are a place where people of differing sexual, religious, and political orientations can come together without fear of persecution.
This photo was taken at the annual Gay Pride Parade in downtown Vancouver, on Robson street.
