English: This image illustrates the immensity of Lake Michigan. From any point on the shore, the view extends to the horizon just as it does from any ocean shore, except within bays and similar constrictions, e.g. near the Straits of Mackinac.
This was taken when the lake was at a high water period. When the lake is at a low water period there would be 100 m of mud flats visible. There is an average of 10 years between high water and low water.
